Iceman’s Flip Cup Reign Comes to an End; Louchadore New Champion

A new era in WBPF Flip Cup has begun.

“I am Luchadore, you’re NEW Flip Cup Champion,” Luchadore proudly and perhaps a bit arrogantly declared moments after his stunning victory.

Iceman, undisputed champion of flip cup since the now classic championship match at The Great American Beer Bash, was finally bested, unable to work up the magic he showed in his previous championship matches. He was eliminated in the second round of the three-round contest.

“I’m not quite sure what went wrong,” Iceman said afterwards, “For some reason I just wasn’t feeling it earlier in the day. Also, I may have made a tactical error of not rubbing enough oil on my body before the match began.”

Acquired by the WBPF just weeks earlier, a hungry Louchadore found himself going up against established veterans King Gah and Dr. Pepper, in addition to Iceman.

“I heard a lot about Iceman going into this match,” Louchadore said, “Now don’t ask me why, but I just had this feeling I could beat him. I just felt really confident in my skills, you know?”

Many expected another Iceman rout going in, but such talk was quickly vanquished after Louchadore finished round 1 first by a margin of several cups. Iceman struggled and seemed to look a bit awkward as he was barely able to beat out King Gah and Dr. Pepper to avoid elimination. Dr. Pepper would end up being eliminated.

“I don’t know what surprised me more at that point,” stated King Gah “Louchadore’s great play or seeing Iceman lag behind. It seemed like Iceman may have been a bit razzled by the unexpected high level of play from his competition.”

Many loyal Iceman fans brushed off the shaky start, confident that their favorite superstar would return to form in round 2, but it was not to be.

Louchadore dominated once again and King Gah put in another strong performance, while Iceman was unable to keep up, bringing his championship run to an end.

“I felt really good about myself once I saw that Iceman was eliminated,” Louchadore explained, “up until that point Gah hadn’t shown me a reason to be afraid of him.”

King Gah, however, was equally hungry for that belt and would give it his all to the very end.

As a result, the final six-cup round was fairly tight for the first few cups, but a determined Louchadore pulled ahead for a convincing two-cup victory and his first Flip Cup Championship.

“This is a great start to a great career,” Louchadore said, “best of luck to anyone who thinks they can knock me off my perch. They’ll need it.”
