| 1/17/2008- WBPF One Year Website Anniversary This week marks the 1 year anniversary of the World Beer Pong Federation domain name and what a year it has been. The website has established itself as one of the most content-rich beer pong sites on the internet and arguably the most fun one to read. More importantly, the WBPF has played host to some of the most intense and entertaining drinking games in the world. And most important of all, for each and every one of our superstars, the memories will last a lifetime. “I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished here. I’m proud of all the joy we’ve brought and all the alcohol consumption we’ve encouraged.” - The Commissioner Last week, we took a survey that allowed our fans to vote for things such as the match of the year, superstar of the year, and their drinking game preferences. Here are the results: Favorite
Pong Per View This was arguably the most difficult category to vote for as all of the PPVs were amazing. The Beer Bash had the advantage of being the first pong-per-view of the modern era, while Clash of the Crunked perhaps had the most graphically pleasing centerpiece. However, the fact that each PPV had a large amount of title changes may have also been a factor. No matter what your preference, you really can’t go wrong here. What
is your opinion on playing beer pong with paddles? There appears to still be a strong dislike for beer pong with paddles, but progress has been made in reversing this opinion. It appears the oldest version of paddle pong where you hit cups to score points is despised, but the newer version where you hit cups and then chug your own beer is fun and catching on. Of course, there are others who just really enjoy having things shoved up their ass and will look for any excuse to do so. Will the Schaefer Bowl return in 2008?
Looks like the majority of our fans would like to see the return of the much-hyped, yet controversial, Schaefer Bowl. Iceman had this to say: “The fans’ votes clearly show how great of an event this is. Plans are in place for the next edition of Schaefer Bowl. However, they will only happen after the stubborn commissioner renames the WBPF to Schaefer Bowl or at the very least, names a PPV after it. I think it’s unfair for the commissioner to withhold this great event from the masses who are willing to pay good money to see it.” What
is your favorite Drinking Game? Unbelievably, beer pong did not win this category. That drink ball won just goes to show what raging alcoholics our fan base consists of. What is your favorite
type of beer pong match? This category saw the most diverse voting, with no choice capturing a true majority. In the end the 4-Way dance match is a deserving winner as it is truly one of the most fun and exciting matches ever invented and we’re proud that it originated from the World Beer Pong Federation. Which professional
wrestler would you most like to have as your beer pong partner? With his 24-inch pythons and championship pedigree, who wouldn’t want the Hulkster as their beer pong partner? Most Improved Superstar
Fote ran away with this category and it was well deserved. One year ago, he was a mid-carder, considered a push-over by many. Fote’s rise began at The Great American Beer Bash when The Gah offered him a World Title shot, assuming he would be an easy victory. In a Rockyesque fashion, Fote won the first game of the best-of-3 series and came close to winning both games 2 and 3 as he showed the world he was for real. Since then, Fote’s drinking game skills have improved by leaps and bounds as he is now a formidable competitor in Drink Ball and beer pong, and a solid partner on any team. We sense that many title reigns are in the future for this young man. Biddy of the Year All four biddies who received votes had a strong case to take this award, but in the end, Maddie’s skills and popularity rose above the rest. Superstar of the
Year It appears many fans voted against The Gah out of spite, but it didn’t work. Realistically, The Gah is the far and away winner here. He held the World Heavyweight Championship for eleven months out of the year, including successfully defending it at all four PPVs. Add in a few Tag Team and Paddle Championships and it’s really not a contest. Match of the Year Arguably the most beautiful flip cup display ever filmed, Iceman shocked and awed spectators with his landmark championship victory at The Great American Beer Bash. This was a match that started out amazing and just kept on getting better, leading up to an epic final round in which Iceman flipped six cups in under 14 seconds. This was an extremely tough category with so many great matches having taken place over the last year. Specifically, the Beer Bash Flip Cup Championship and King of the Table finals were both pristine showcases of their respective games. However, in the end, the Beer Bash Flip Cup Championship enjoyed more glory as the match not only created more intensity within the WBPF arena the night it took place, its video also made waves on YouTube pissing off various nitwits and Canadians, something we think is awesome on many levels. Editor’s Pick for The Top 5 Moments of the Past Year 5.) T-Love runs gauntlet against a team of five women at The Great American Beer Bash
Taking a lesson from the great Andy Kaufman, T-Love claimed that he could not only beat any woman in beer pong, but he could defeat an entire team of them by himself. Five brave women accepted T-Love’s challenge, hoping to defend their female pride, but ended up being systematically defeated in a hilarious match that proved once and for all that men are generally the superior sex at sports. 4.) Jenn wins the first ever Female Sex Championship Jenn had the privilege of starting something special as she became the first recorded women’s champion in drinking game history. 3.) The Gah wins the first ever Beer Pong Royal Rumble It was the very first of its kind. 13 superstars. One Table. One winner. The very first beer pong royal rumble created a fun and intense atmosphere that, although it made a mediocre video, provided lasting memories. This match saw yet another great finish as The Gah narrowly avoided elimination to eliminate Iceman and T-Love en route to victory. Tied-1.) The Gah wins King of the Table Tournament In one of the greatest beer pong matches ever filmed, The Gah and Iceman locked horns in the final round of the prestigious King of the Table Tournament. With both players shooting extremely well, the match was tight and fast-paced. The ending of the match was the stuff of legend, as The Gah sunk both of his balls (sigh, no, not those balls) into Iceman’s final cup to seal the victory. [Watch the Match] Tied-1.) The end of the hated Fat
Shit flip cup reign gave birth to what would become an even more hated
Iceman flip cup reign. Still, it was an inspiring victory for those who
prefer skill at flipping cups over skill at chugging beer. [Watch
