Reaching for the Stars: One Man’s Dream to become
a WBPF Superstar
Ever
since Thomas Flannigan was an aging adolescent, he had one
dream – to one day compete in the World Beer Pong
Federation.
“Even
before I was legally allowed to play, I have loved the sport
of beer pong,” says Thomas, “and the World Beer
Pong Federation always looked like the most fun place to
play the game. I can still remember attending their original
pong-per-view way back when, sipping on my soda, and having
a great time.”
Thomas
now trains six days a week at his local WBPF Power Plant,
a top-notch training facility that looks exactly the same
as the place where all the exhibition and pong-per-view
matches occur, but is different.
At
the Power Plant, Thomas is able to train under world-renowed
beer pong coaches from all around the world, but mostly
America. The training is intense and often leaves him exhausted
by the end of the day.
“I
used to think playing football was tough,” Thomas
jokes, “but now I realize that highschool and college
football players are little girly men compared to what the
top beer pong players do.”

Thomas
receives some tips from T-Love. |
Still,
there is absolutely no guaruntee that Thomas will advance
to the WBPF roster. Many of the companions he has been training
with have already either buckled under the pressure or simply
been cut for lack of skill. Nonetheless, Thomas tries to
remain confident in himself.
“I
figure if a stoner, and a fat shit can get in, then why
not me?”
His
enthusiasm for beer pong originates from the fact that attending
WBPF events helped get him through some tough times. In
an age where other professional athletes are either cheating
or pumping drugs into their ass cheeks, the appeal of the
WBPF superstars’ innocent weekend-alcoholic antics
was tremendous on the young man.
“No
matter how bad things in life became, I knew I could always
look up to these guys. They work hard, play hard, and never
quit, and I admire that about them. Watching the old greats
like The Gah and T-Love lock horns on a regular basis always
inspired me to attempt to do something great with my life.
I just hope some of their greatness can rub off on me.”
Says Thomas.
We
wish the best of luck to Thomas in his journey, and who
knows, perhaps he will headline a pong-per-view one day.
