7/26/2007- Iceman Injured, will still compete at King of the Table

WBPF.com has learned that Iceman has injured his arm, but still intends to compete at the upcoming pong-per-view. However, he will not be 100%.

“This injury is a setback for sure,” Iceman said, “but make no mistake, I am going to do everything in my power to participate in King of the Table. Even if it’s only to defend my flip cup championship, I feel I still must be there. I will not surrender that title.”

According to the account he gave, Iceman hurt his arm while playing in a fast-paced flip cup match in Tijuana, Mexico.

“So there I was, in the middle of an intense flip cup game with some of Mexico’s top talent,” Iceman recalls, “I was winning by a lot, of course, but then all of a sudden, I executed another one of my perfect flips, and I felt something snap in my arm. It was excruciatingly painful, but what was more annoying was having to finish the match with my weak arm. I still won the match, but wasn’t able to widen the gap or embarrass my opponents any further than I was before the injury, which I found frustrating.”

Even so, if Iceman is forced to defend his flip cup championship with his weak arm, it could mark the end of what has been an impressive title reign. Although, we will not learn who he will defend the title against until at least next week, Iceman remains optimistic.

“Even with my weak arm, I think I would still be the favorite in the flip cup match, but there is still a chance my strong arm will be healed enough by then, hopefully allowing for another by-the-books title defense.” Iceman said.

The injury also affects Iceman’s ability to play competitively in the actual King of the Table Beer Pong Tournament, the winner of which will be crowned the “King of the Table” in addition to receiving any title shot he desires. Iceman had been considered by many to be one of the favorites to win, or at least advance deep into the tournament.

“My beer pong playing ability is the biggest uncertainty at this time,” Iceman says. “It’s a shame because ‘King Iceman’ seems like a natural title to me. But again, don’t count me out just yet. After all, I am the world’s only Schaefer Bowl Champion.”

Iceman seen here recuperating.
