| NEW PADDLE MATCH Competitors: One player (singles) or one team of two players (doubles) at each end of the table. Setup: 1.) The table should be the size of a regulation ping pong table, but any table at least 7X4 will do. 2.) Each player/team sets up two cups in an agreed upon formation on their side of the table. This may involve one cup in each corner or two cups somewhere near the middle. There is room for flexibility here. The only requirement is that each player/team's formations must be parallel (the same). Each cup should also start out filled halfway with beer or one full beer per cup, depending on how much you want to drink in a game. Examples are provided below.
Start of the Match: 1.) Whoever is running the table, defending their championship belt, or the visiting team gets to serve first. During Gameplay: 1.) Volley begins with a player serving the ball to the opponent. A serve consists of a player hitting the ball off his paddle, the ball hitting his side of the table once, bouncing over the net, and bouncing on the opponent's side of the table once. After a legal serve is made, volley ensues until one player either hits or sinks one of his opponent's cups, a player hits the ball out of bounds, or a player fails to return a shot into his opponent’s half of the court. Whichever player/team did not ruin the volley gets to serve for the next volley. When a player’s cup is hit by an opponent, he must retrieve the ball and place it on the table while shouting “STOP”. When a player hits an opponent’s cups, he is to pick up one of his own cups and begin drinking its contents as quickly as possible until the opponent places the ball on the table and shouts “STOP”. For a singles match, a player must only attempt to drink the contents of one cup at a time. He may not drink his second cup until the first one is empty. If a player sinks a ball into one of his opponent’s cups, the player automatically gets to drink the remainder of his cup and remove it from the table. For a singles match, the player must remove the cup with the least amount of alcohol in it. End of the Match: 1.) The match
ends when one player/team has drank both of their cups. This team is declared
the winner.
