| STANDARD MATCH Competitors: One player on each side of the table. Setup: Each player has their own pyramid formation of either six or ten cups to be placed on opposing sides of the table. Examples are provided below.
Start of the Match: Each match begins with each player staring each other in the eyes and attempting to throw a ball into one of their opponents' cups. The winning team receives first possession. During Gameplay: 1.) One turn consists of a player throwing or bouncing two balls at his opponent's cups. 2.) When a player throws or bounces, his elbow must be behind the edge of the table. Any shot that violates this rule will not count if it lands in an opposing player's cup and the shot may not be retaken. 3.) If a cup is made off a throw, the opposing player must drink the contents of the cup and remove it from the playing area. 4.) If a cup is made off a bounce, the opposing player must drink the contents of that cup as well as another cup of his choice and remove them both from the playing area. 5.) A player may attempt to block bounce shots, but not interfere with normal throws. The penalty for interfering with a throw is the removal of the cup closest to the ball, which must be drank by the player who committed the foul. 6.) If a player makes two shots in a row, be they throws, bounces, or a combination of both, he/she immediately receives another turn. This is commonly referred to as "Bringing it back". 7.) If a player knocks over one of his own cups, be it accidental or intentional, he must remove it from the playing area and drink any beer still inside the cup. 8.) If a player puts a ball into one of his own cups, be it accidental or intentional, he must remove it from the playing area and drink any beer still inside the cup. 9.) Technically, both female and male players may attempt to blow a spinning ball out of their cup, although it is generally frowned upon for males. If successful, the cup is not considered made. However, as soon as the ball makes contact with the beer, it is considered a made cup. 10.) A player or team only receives one "fix" per game, where the opponent realigns his cups into a tight formation according to how many remain. The player must call for this fix. Winning the Match: 1.) A player wins the match when he has made all of his opponent's cups. However, the opponent receives a final turn to attempt to make the remainder of the opponent's cups, unless the player "brought it back" on the last turn therefore effectively ending the match. If the opponent fails to tie the match, the player is victorious, if the opponent manages to make all of the player's remaining cups, the match will shift into overtime. 2.) If a player
knocks over his final cup, he automatically loses. He does not receive
a final turn to attempt to force a tie. The same is true if a player puts
a ball into his own cup. Overtime: 2.) The player who first made all of his opponent's cups receives first possession in overtime, unless the other player "brought it back" on his final turn, in which case he receives first possession. 3.) From then on, overtime is played exactly like regulation until a winner is decided. If overtime ends in another tie, another overtime takes place and this cycle repeats itself until a winner is decided.
