The Paddle Match is Back with a Vengeance; Belt Changes
Hands Twice!
The paddle pong drought is over.
With the adoption of a different paddle game (the one sometimes
referred to as "Four corners"; more details tomorrow),
excitement has been injected back into the paddle division
and the championship may be on its way to regaining its
prestige.
“I’m
so happy that we were able to work this out and find a solution
which pleases everybody,” stated T-Love, “I
even like this new paddle game much better than the old
one.”
To celebrate the return of Paddle action to the WBPF, two
championship matches were held this past Saturday.
First, reigning champion Single-J took on number one contender,
The Gah. Single-J, seemingly out of shape do to weeks of
paddle inactivity was in terrible form and only able to
hit one of The Gah’s cups once. Gah, who already had
the advantage of being able to chug beer faster, used this
to his advantage and quickly took Single-J down, bring the
championship to himself.
“If
the Paddle Championship is going to be prestigious, it’s
only natural that it be around my waist,” said The
Gah after his victory.

Later in the night, a second championship match was held
as the next highest contender, T-Love took on The Gah. This
time, it would be The Gah who struggled to hit cups, with
T-Love getting the majority of the hits.
The game was interesting, however, as T-Love’s heavy
drinking disadvantage kept The Gah from ever being totally
out of the match. At one point, things became very interesting
when The Gah sank a ball into T-Love’s final cup,
putting him within striking distance of victory. T-Love,
however, would hold strong and pull through with a nice
shot that bounced off The Gah’s cup and flew into
the corner of the room, giving him plenty of time to finish
his final cup and win the championship.
“At
long last, the Paddle Championship is back where it belongs,”
said T-Love. “I’m prepared to take Paddle beer
pong to the next level.”
